Turn signal

Hi, I have a 2017 Yukon XL. The turn signals flash 3 times when you just tap them. I like this and would like to make them flash 5 or 6 times instead of 3. Is there a way to reprogram this without getting a chip programmer like a Bully Dog or others?

Put it in tow/haul mode. Then it will do it six times.

I did that and it works just fine. Doing that changes the shift points to a higher RPM, which is OK. I wonder if it has any other side effects like lower gas mileage.

I always thought that 3 blinks was just not quite enough. 6 was a bit much, unless you're towing. Yeah, I wish it was customizable but, not enough so that I'm going to mess with it.

If the tow mode thing works for you then, next I suggest a handheld tuner. I'm sure that in tow mode, your MPG will be affected. With the tuner, you can tweak RPM settings more to your liking. But... Then it defeats the purpose when you are actually towing.

I just live with the 3 blinks, sometimes I'll just hit it again, if need be.

See, I tried that but every time I make a turn, it shuts itself off. It doesn't matter, left or right. Then I have to turn it back on, as I drive down the road.

Suppose you keep your hands on the wheel Rubdy and force your lazy-ass a second tap to squeeze out those last 3 blinks.

While you're busy texting though, I already went around your ass and didn't even blink. Why don't you hack into your truck's CPU and see if you can change the software string to 6 flashes. duh?
