No, also left phone in the car as only was going to be at the pump for a few mins.Unless, again, is a spot where someone wants to get in the car and lock all the doors...for safety. Imagine some criminal is about to assault you, and you jump in the back seat...and want to lock up...if that lock button not there, you are not happy.
I'd say the best "solution" is a remedial one...where it becomes clear to your children the consequences of doing this.
Was your wife able to use the My<Chevrolet/GMC/Cadillac> app to unlock the doors using her phone?
The thing I don't get is I've never seen this capability in another car; rear doors have only ever been able to control their own door lock.
There can definitely be a benefit to it though locking out a stranger is a fringe case and the liability of locking the driver out seems a bigger con than the pro of being able to unlock the drivers' door.
Unless we can change the setting, we'll have to learn to live with it and give the kids a few light slams for locking mom out of the car.
