I noticed that my U-joint by my rearend is going out. It was clicking yesterday so I brought it in to our shop and put in on a lift (I got a free diff fluid change out of the deal too!) But anyway my U joint had quite a bit of play in it. How big of a PITA are these to change, I understand that mine have the plastic ends that need to be taken out first.

not bad at all. just make sure you remember to grease (if it has a zerk) and that there is zero play in the joint after installation. i think the socket is a 7/8 and ive always used a hammer and a spark plug socket to knock it out of the driveshaft.

Your going to have to use a torch. Preferably a hot one and pull the whole drive shaft off. Replace both not just one. I'm replacing mine tomorrow.

+1. Do both at the same time. I probably should have used a torch, but it isn't required. I smashed the shizzle out of it till it broke free. Meh. Super easy job.
