I picked up the Valvoline dot 3&4 synthetic fluidUsing DOT 4 fluid, I hope.
DOT 4 is all I use. I didn’t specify because people can get ‘funny’ when it comes to automotive fluids.Using DOT 4 fluid, I hope.
Correct, either a manual bleed (two people style) or a pressure bleed (with pressure/vacuum tool and one person) is all that is needed. My truck desperately needs a bleed and flush as the fluid is pretty dark. No braking issues at all,no spongy pedal. I bought the Motive power bleeder to do this job. Based on your comment, I shouldnt need to do the ABS bleed after the flush, correct? I do have a Tech 2 clone available if need be
No, the automated bleed process does not specify a pressure bleeder. In fact, it doesn't tell you to check the master cylinder until AFTER you are done with all four calipers. Which is bad, because the test at each caliper uses up around half the volume of fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. To clarify, the automated bleed prcess is supposed to be done with a pressure bleeder attached? I would expect it to go through a ton of fluid that way. Can you provide reference to the procedure you followed?
Just trying to understand for when I do mine.

For bleeding the ABS with a TECH 2, I went to my alldata account for the factory service manual and used the ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AUTOMATED BLEED PROCEDURE (NON-HYBRID LESS THAN 3900KG (8600LBS) GVW)
You are quite welcome!Thanks.
