Our 06 Escalade has the Ultrasonic rear park assist system and until recently it's always worked well, actually a very handy system. Recently though, as soon as you put the truck into reverse the first two amber lights come on, and the system chimes, as if you're getting close to something, but there's nothing behind me. If I do back up close to something, as I get really close the red light does come on and the chime frequency increases as it normally would. So it's not like the system isn't working, it's just defaulting to the "somewhat close" mode, if that makes any sense.
I found the instructions on how to put the system into diagnostic mode (link below) and I did that, but my system is not throwing any errors. It seems like most other people who have issues with this get the 'flashing red light' and the system stops working - since mine still works (just inaccurately) diagnostic mode isn't giving me any info.
Any thoughts on what might be going on here? Anyone experience this before? These sensors are pretty pricey so I don't want to start throwing parts at it.
