Has anyone ever tried to take the underhood storage box out of a late 90's GM truck and fit it into the 2000-2006 trucks anywhere in the vehicle? I'm thinking it would be really cool and handy to have this. Will it fit easily under the hood in these newer models?

I bought one for my '99, thinking it would hold a bottle of oil and a few other things. It isn't tall enough for the oil to stand up, and there are holes in the bottom so it isn't water-proof. It mounts to a plate that is already there with "snaps" on one side and a bolt through the fender well on the other.

If I were you, I'd try and find something made for your truck or make one yourself if you have a spot for a second battery.

I'm going to do a sealed battery box. Just wondering if anyone else has something similar.

I took about 2-1/2" out of the middle of mine to make it shorter. Then zip tied the 2 halves together. Also cut off that weird little piece that stuck out of the back. It's even less waterproof now but I was only planning to have larger items in it. Could always seal it up with duct tape haha. There still isn't a great spot for it that I've found. There's a spot behind my coolant reservoir that would be good but it has a bracket going over the top of it so you can't open the lid of the box. But it will fit there. I thought about mounting it to the frame somewhere too... And also upside down under the hood where it wouldn't hit anything... Just brainstorming here. Any other ideas?
