Hey all -

I've tried following the directions in the manual to program a simple garage door opener. It worked easily on my other two cars, and it's an older one, so I know it's not one of those "rolling" ones.

I can't get the Yukon to program.

I can get the three lights to flash (program mode) but after that - I can't get any of the buttons to learn anything.

Anyone have any tips to either reboot that thing, clear it out, or something they've done that's gotten it to work?

Thanks!

I remember having trouble with my '09 and my garage door, even though I was able to program my '02 (previously) with the same door. I seem to recall being told by the garage door guy that the garage door opener model was too old and that's why I couldn't get it to sync with me '09 (I had tried the manual switch route and everything to no avail).

We eventually had the opener replaced, and the learning went just fine.

So... I'd say that the combo of your truck being new and your opener being on the older side that it may just not program.

I hope for your sake that that's NOT the case for you, but it was for me.

Well,

I can't get the buttons to enter program mode. Holding each one down never gets them to flash individually.

If homelink responded as expected, but just didn't work, I'd be with you.

put door into learn mode.
hold the outter 2 buttons down on home link untill you see a radpid flash, it takes like 45 seconds or more..
once rapid flash, Hold garage door remote 1" from the homelink buttons. then press desired button.

Wait 30seconds for it to leave learn mode.. the try button.
If it doesnt work re do above but HOLD down desired button till you get a rapid flash. then wait 30s.

Should work.

If you have an older lift master garage, dont trip the saftey "laser" on the garage. Took me a while to figure out, but when i hit the learn button on my garage door, id go to my tahoe in the driveway, and every time i crossed that laser thing at the bottom of the garage, it canceled learn mode, so i had to jump over it, then it worked.

Solved

I fixed the problem today by doing a little more research. Apparently GMC changed the manufacturer of the unit to Lear, and the programming instructions are slightly different:

I followed these directions, and now my door goes up and down like a yoyo.

Thanks!
