Well for those who were following my skipping issue, had a friend who replaced the spider in his truck and about 5,000 miles later destroyed the bottom end so long story short I jacked the spider and installed in my truck problem solved and since have removed the cats, LOVE the sound.
Now to my trans question, has anyone installed an aftermarket cooler if so what kind and where did u mount??

Well I'm gonna assume your rig doesn't have the tow package?

Well I've heard good things about the flexalite coolers, and mixed feedback about hayden coolers, but the possibilites are endless. Why do you want one? Just for the peace of mind, or are you really beating on it and overheating it occasionally?

As for mounting I've seen them betwen the frame rails, but that seems a little vulnerable to me, I would mount It in front of the radiator for max airflow.

And while you're at it, you might as well do a fluid/filter change and install one of the tranny pans with the cooling fins too :) (they're not that expensive)
and if you can a tranny oil temp guage is just cool to have!

Let me know what your general ideas on this are though, i.e.- why and how you want it, then we can help you narrow it down a little

well my tranny is actin up, wont go into OD once it warms up, but anyway it doesnt have the tow package and once warm and slipping you can smell the fluid is hot as hell. I have a new tranny to put in just dont have the effin time right now, but i would like to avoid the ****** "cooler" it has now. I will be doing some towing with it (pontoon boat and car trailer) mostly.

You should probably do it the right way the first time rather then risk catastrophic failure or worse ...

Oh and forgot to mention ive changed fluid and filter OFTEN with no change, the no OD problem occurs with just normal driving and no im not really driving the crap out of it. Ive heard of between the rails and over the rear end if enough room but im not exactly fond of either, im thinkin in the grill.

unknown at this time.
you can mount it anywhere maybe just get one with a thermostat controlled fan. I would recommend flexalite, B&M or even perma-cool but PC is having some serious marketing and sales problems since relocating. Apparently started by rival flexalite saying that PC went out of business. They are still trying to piece there website togehter with a new look. PC had a good patented design for extracting more heat transfer as is discussed on this site from a while back.
