Elliot glad you made it over. I know you will get more information over here for your burb than you would on a generic chevy site. I love your truck. Any plans for under the hood?

wow. first of all im suprised you found a shop willing to take the liabiltiy of cutting and sewing the seat belts. thats just a big no no. looks fine. In my line of work, i'd cringe to see that at an accident scene. regardless of if it contributed to injuries or not.
But glad you made an effort to get belts installed though...?Just wish you would have done it OEM since its such a saftey issue but thats for you. and make sure you disclose the fact the seatbelts are modified if you wind up selling sometime.
but again, nice burb. glad theres more of us here that are longer...er...uh....u know.
I'd say both. I know nothing about upholstery but I'm sure a reputable shop would know they best way to do it. It's probably a somewhat stretchable nylon woven together for the material.

Thanks for the comments.
It's actually a very reputable shop who stands 100% by their work. It's not a fly by night operation and they have done many custom seatbelts before mine. They actually reinforce the stitching much MORE than OEM. I'm very satisfied and comfortable with the completed work.
i understand totally. and my only other point is that factory seatbelts are designed to GIVE and certain zones (where they are folded over) are designed to pop stitching in the event of a crash to allow g forces to be absorbed in high delta V crashes. just expressing my concern that any modification of them is concerning. Im sure they do great work, but they arent the FMVSS people and arent the ones who crash tested thousands of fabrics and stitches before findign the right combo.
it should all be specified in FMVSS standard 209 or 208...theres specifications in how much it can stretch with certain forces applied in certain directions...etc....and theres something in there about it being a FMVSS violation if its operated on the roadways and hasnt met those specifications. so...cutting a seatbelt and sewing it back together certainly wont meet the requirements.
but then again, having the seat w/o the seatbelts is an issue too haha. at least u used the factory anchorage points...i've worked some crashes on custom cars where they bolt them to a floor pan and they just rip out.
but enuf about that, i coudl go on but i promise i wont haha.
What's up Trevor! Glad you made yourself known. Man, I'm glad you told me about this forum as I would've never found it while googling "suburban forum". The other generic site was helpful but this site is definitely my kind of place.
Yeah, the under-the-hood mods will come later. Have to take care of a few immediate needs....like better brakes and freeing up the cargo area!
Thanks for the comments.
