Upgrading a 99 to tow

Synthetic fluids and a tune, a few extra psi in the tires.
Also maybe some quality octane booster.

I would stick with higher octane gas instead.

I put 91 in everything I own, car, truck, boat, generator, chainsaw.....its as high as we have here.

But when it is 116 out AC on full blast and you are towing your boat, octane booster can help to stop ping under load.

I would think your cooling effectiveness is lacking. Maybe some upgrades are in order. PCM should have still knocked it down while reducing power output to do so. Maybe some re-tuning is in order for the 0411.

Im actually not having any problems, but if I did thats what I would do.

YUP! I laugh at people that use octane booster on the regular. 5-8 bucks for a few ounce container which only treat 15 gallons which means you need 2 of them (10-16 bucks) and it will never bring 87 octane up to 91/93 octane. While you can pay less then .20 per gallon and get "super". ( .20 X 30 gallons = 6 bucks)
