I want to upgrade my 06 LT with in-dash navigation. My suburban has stock cd/xm radio w/Bose speakers. I have seen 06 LTZ suburbans with the factory navi but from what I have read I should stay away from them. Im not really wanting to have to use a disc while using it. Should I go aftermarket? I'm looking for as much plug and play as possible. Do I need to install antenna?

Also, I still want to have xm radio. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the antenna but my recommendation would be to go to Crutchfield.com. They have a huge selection of head units including units with nav and they also have really good customer service. You can even do on-line chat with a Customer service rep to answer your questions.

you can get a full plug and play system.. there are a few manufactures out there that make complete plug in harnesses that can or cannot maintain such things as chime, OnStar, Bose, Steering Wheel Controls, and some that even can maintain factory XM.. i am currently working on a setup for mine that will keep Bose,Steering wheel controls, and chime but i will add a aftermarket Sirius tuner so that i can control it through the navi head unit.. if you give me a little bit i can get you a list of parts i use and even get you a complete price ready for you to install.. i am a dealer and just want to test some pieces out on my vehicle to see what works best. Shoot me a PM of what all you are trying to accomplish and i can get you a price.

Yeah the factory nav unit that was in my 2006 Denali XL wasn't very good. Same unit that came in the ltz suburban. The laser reader in the DVD drive was starting to go bad so alot of times it wouldn't recognize that the nav disc was in. I also wanted Bluetooth and a way to stream music from my iPod into my stereo. I ended up going aftermarket. Had a pioneer unit, originally but just went with a new clarion unit and I love it. It wasn't plug and play but I just had an installer put It in anyways and wired in the backup cam That I ordered as well. Have the stuff to retain steering wheel control and on star stuff. I didn't order the Sirius module because I never use it. Some headshots have it already built in. I use my iPod like 95% of the time anyways. The Bluetooth works perfect anathema setup in the new unit work really well. For my unit for a good price on eBay brand new.
