Waze via the apps screen is often REALLY slow to load

Hey all,

I tend to use Waze via the app screen (as opposed to from my phone) in my '23 Yukon Denali. It seems like half the time I select the Waze app, the screen will go blank, or maybe it'll load a couple of the Waze icons in the corner of the screen -- but it won't readily load a map on the screen. I'll have to jump out of the app and back into it a couple or more times before it'll load. Or, if the search icon loads, I'll have to press on it and then exit search mode, and then sometimes that will load the map.

...And then other times I'll get the "...need to refresh Waze"/"...check your Waze settings" option screen (although I've not changed anything in the meantime).

Anyone else often make a number of attempts to get Waze to load? Find any "fix" for the situation?

When I dropped my truck off for an oil change and two other software updates this morning, the dealer servicewoman mentioned that there was a 3rd update regarding the maps. So... Maybe that update will help with Waze loading maps...? Fingers crossed!

I'll have to check and see if Waze has improved since the latest update. But using the native Google Maps or Waze has always been a pain. Damn these $30 Android tablets that GM decided to use.

Don't bother, thanks. Just picked my truck up, and Waze wouldn't load at all this time. lol Works perfectly fine from the CarPlay menu (via the phone app), but is still miserable from the in-car app.

Yes, I'm replying to my own post...

I think I can safely say that none of the updates did a damn thing to help Waze.

Yeah it sucks. I’ll use Google Maps here and there but don’t even waste time with Waze. 95% of the time I use CarPlay

Google Maps doesn't give you alerts as to Police and whatnot, correct?

I've seen it alert on speed traps but my personal preference is police alerts in Waze using Carplay.
Yeah, that's typically what I use Waze for [when going places that I know how to get to].
