The Lower control arm bushings on my '98 are on their way out and the arms are fairly rusty (truck lived up north at some point in time) so I hit the junkyard yesterday to look for a fresh set of LCAs to work with. I stripped most of the of the front suspension off another '98 and found that it had different torsion bars than my '98. I have the GF bars (5826) 15528955 (LH) 15528956 (RH) and this truck had the GH bars (7161) 15528959 (LH) 15528960 (RH). From what I can tell these HD bars were called the "snow prep package" bars. I grabbed everything: LCAs, torsion bars, keys, keepers, etc. After I install new bushings & ball joints I'd like to use the HD bars.
What kind of ride difference can I expect with the 7161 ft-lb torsion bars? Also the donor had 240K miles on it. What is the life span of a torsion bar? I can reuse my GF bars, provided I can get them out (they're fairly rusty).
