I just had my 95 tahoe out for a run, and it ran fine...plenty of oil pressure...no less than 40 psi. I came home, shut the truck off, and went to re-start it a few minutes later, and it started, ran like 5 seconds and died. When I crank, I have no oil pressure showing, and no smell of fuel. cranks just fine though.

Could the pressure switch have went out? My son and his friend changed out my valve cover gaskets and cleaned out the sludge...to the point where I had to use a motor flush to get rid of the garbage. just did change the oil, and the dipstick reads full.

I am hoping its just the switch.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Check the battery terminals and main wires, my main to the fuse box was loose when I first got it and used to do that constantly.

Are the injectors spraying when cranking??

what puzzled me was the fact that the gauge was reading 60 psi when running, then it shut off...upon re cranking it had no reading on the oil gauge.

We tried a small experiment. We got a small piece of wire, and jumped the 2 end wires on the sender pigtail, leaving the center one alone as it is tan, and for the gauge. when we jumped it and attempted to start, the truck started almost instantly and ran fine. I could see oil running though the valve cover oil fill, so that says there was pressure. Shut truck off, and removed jumper, truck became a no start. I have a new sensor, but not that special socket to put it in with. that gets taken care of tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!
