ok guys, I need some help and this may get long.

I was towing my 18' pj car trailer home Saturday (empty) after letting a good friend use it. I noticed while hauling it home with my '97 4-door 4x4 tahoe I had a reoccurring vibration that felt like it came from the rearend and moved forward through the whole vehicle. It would happen every 0.5-1.0 seconds, over and over. No matter what speed between 40-70 mph. This trailer has always pulled smoothly, loaded or unloaded and I called my buddy (who also used a '97 tahoe 4x4 to pull it) and he said it was smooth as could be for him. I trust him.

I did just swap in a 14 bolt sf rearend a few weeks ago. The rearend has 60k miles but it was tight and leak free and all bearings/gears looked great. It is super quiet and w/o the trailer installed, there is no vibration at any speed. I have new shocks and new u-joints in the driveshaft. I did notice the driveshaft is about 1/2 inch farther in the tranny tailshaft due to the rearend swap. I have about 1/2 inch before the yoke bottoms against the big rubber portion of the seal. You think that is causing my issue with the weight of the trailer on the back?

I also have air lift bags and had them air'd up so my ride height was still at the same height as it is unloaded. This is a very annoying vibration and must be fixed. I never had this issue with the original 10 bolt under the tahoe but it was about to explode so I did the swap. One other thing, I installed 1" zero rate lift springs on it when I did the rearend swap.

Thanks!

Do you have access to another trailer? Try one and see.
The brakes could be sticking or that drive shaft could be the culprit.
