So I had a Viper alarm installed a while back. Cant remember the model # off the top of my head, ill get it when I get home. But it is a 2-way.

Any way the place that installed it kind of rushed the job and I am finding stuff wrong with it here and there.

The biggest problem is the remote start is kind of spastic. Sometimes it wont start and error flashes the lights. Other times it wont start and will set the alarm off. Pain in the ass when you are too far away to hear it. And one other time it started then tried to start again and made the started grind.

Also inside the cabin where the mountain the brain or whatever computer runs it, there is clicking or ticking sometimes. I have noticed when I start the truck it clicks 5 times or so. And then also while playing music and a right note or tone is played it clicks. Almost like the glass break sensor is sending noise but it doesnt set the alarm off.

Should I go through and check the wires? Is the clicking something I have to deal with? I dont really want to take it back to them cause they suck. So if it is a big deal I might take it somewhere better and see what they say.

Thanks guys! Sorry for the long post.

I will email them and see what they say. I don't know if I should take it back. They probably would tell me its fine anyway. They made some excuse last time that there was all sorts of extra wiring that they had to sort through. Sounded kind of fishy.

Yeah, **** them. Just tell Viper that you want it fixed, but you don't want them touching it anymore. Viper might cover a fix elsewhere.

Random, spastic, erratic actions are usually the result of a bad ground. Bad grounds will cause all sorts of crazy things, especially with solid state and digital electronics. Almost everything I diagnose electrically is due to a bad ground or bad connection elsewhere.

Thanks for the info JK! I will have to pull my dash out and check the wiring and see if it is any good.
