Well that depends on ones specific setup.

Either way, I am pretty sure that you are still going to need a wire running from a speed sensor (or VSS wire) to allow the navigation to track you properly. Since you do not have a factory navigation system the green wire (brown connector or not) is not already there for you to use. As 2007tahoe did, you will still need to tap into, at some point, a VSS wire and run that (whether it is green or not) to the back of your new radio.

Ok thanks, I got the AVIC in today, it has wire in the harness labeled speed sensor, and looking at descriptions of the PAC OS-4 it has a matching wire and supposedly interfaces correctly with the vehicle. If it doesnt I guess I'll just have to run an extension of that pink wire to wherever. Thanks again!

Look here, I'm hoping this means it works:

Your truck did not have factory nav so there is no vss wire anywhere near the head unit. So that means the pac might have a vss wire comming out for the radio but it will not have an imput from the truck. Go ahead and wire it to the box next to the brake pedal as stated in the previous post so you will not have to pull it out again and do it later like I had to. I have the pac in my truck also.

Ok dang...well I found a very helpful youtube video on finding that wire, and feel a lot better about it now!

Im installing a 8100NEX in my 2009 Tahoe, my stock (non- nav) radio had ASL (auto volume adjusting with speed). Would this have been done by a VSS wire near my radio? I don't see how else it would find my speed. If that is the case, could I just plug and play my harness, or tap into the green wire with white stripe in the Brown connector? or do I still need to find the wire by the brake pedal?
