The solution to this is Steering Gear Box, i was skeptical and was convinced it was my pitman arm or intermediate steering shaft, but my uncle said it was steering box and we replaced it, completely fixed, my truck has 185k on it. You could feel play in the steering and tires slightly wandering.

My Tahoe only has 72,000 miles but it is 8 years old, so I guess it could be the gearbox. Did you replace the gearbox with a new one or a rebuilt one?

I had called the local chevy house a few months back and with a wholesale discount it was like $300 from the dealership new...

Also 8 years with those 20s can prematurely wear out many components, not like 24s and up do but still they pick up every bump, crack, slit in the road and transfer it into vibration
