want to get away from tbi

I'm wanting to get away from the tbi and into something better on gas with more juice looking for some input I'm not trying to break the bank or get into to much electrical with the ecus and such I'm also looking at a crate motor rather than rebuilding so I can install over a weekend and be back on road I'm thinking a 99 motor or a 383 depending on cost

When I stroked my 93 cobra out from 302 to 347, I had nothing but problems with EFI..After about a year of weak power and constant computer programming I said **** it and went out all carb set up. Best thing I ever did and I would reccomend it to anyone doing a hi-po stroker motor. Sold my EFI stuff and still had money left over after my carb was on and everything rewired.

On the other hand. When I stroked out my 93 z28 to 383..It was all efi with a superchip, full exaust, ported and polished stick heads it ran like a dream. BUT it was SLOOOW compared to the cobra but a great street car. Low power for a 383.

you'd need a huge change to go from TBI to Vortec motor.
You can get a new, rebuild with warranty TBI for around $1300 and just swap it in. We did one over a weekend.

you can buy a wiring harness and such for a NBS 5.3 or 6.0 motor. requires lots of work, but would be night and day compared to the shit tbi motor. But alot can be done with the tbi motor. vortec heads, cam, 383, 454 throttle body with the bigger injectors, etc etc.

I know I've been looking at the crate tbi but I know its limited to mods and I would like a little more power.

get your block to a 383, vortec heads, cam, a bigger throttle body, fuel pressure regulator, new fuel pump, a custom chip, long tubes, electric fans, supercharger and youll be happy.
