Was at dealer no upgrade for Tahoe rst performance parts if I Tune I heard it still stays incomputer

I refuse to leave my manly hood feel in a battery powered car I want something durable. Not get stuck in a hurricane and worry about floods and electrical components in Tesla I refuse to buy battery powered cars stills. I like old fashioned school technology . I like the engine feel . For what I paid I could had bought a Tesla but no no way it not reliable no one can fix em them and most time I drive 8 hours straight .And after seeing the link in forum I doubt I’d survive if I was in Tesla it a plastic car basically . I wanted something strong durable and safe my option were h1 hummer one hummer and used brinks truck I ended up with Tahoe doesn’t draw attention as a brink truck or h1 hummer does and also it very comfortable to seat people . I have nothing against Tesla I have Freind now own them they just tell me how expensive body parts are when they hit something with bumper and it comes off they really have become to hate it. Everything is overpriced plastic . Look at link below tell me if you think a Tesla suv would have survived that accident .

That was from operator error... speeding in icy conditions = operator error.

just like yesterday people were speeding really fast when it was quite foggy down to about 500-1000ft going 75-80
I slowed down to 55-58mph and have lights on...

Actually I have to point out that Tesla’s do exceptionally well in crashes. There have multiple been reports of head on collisions into trucks, brick walls, etc at high speeds and all occupants walk out with little to no injuries. In fact I think every Tesla model is the safest vehicle ever tested in its class. Much of this is due to the lack of engine and the correspondingly larger crumple zone that creates.

Having said that, I would still rather be in a GM truck than in a Tesla during a crash. I like being surrounded by a truck frame and being higher up.

Now driving through water, and Tesla’s capabilities in doing so or not doing so, I can’t comment. Maybe the motors are sealed waterproof and therefore it can go through water? Or maybe it’ll short circuit, who knows, I don’t know.

As far as sound, yes! I agree with you there for sure. I LOVE the sound of a good healthy V8!!

1. Don't waste money on a CAI. unless you want the noise, you aren't doing a damn thing. The OEM airbox will outflow them anyways, and even with tuning a CAI will only net you 7-10 HP. That's hundreds thrown at the motor for no real gain IMO

2. Just tune it. Get rid of the damn torque tuning that GM gives us to help protect the damn trans. These rigs are rocket ships when you let them actually open up. Of course the trans may get damaged. Weigh how much you desire performance vs. a potential breakage


If you really want massive performance, add a blower. Otherwise I highly recommend just driving it and enjoying the ride. A tune will really help out. And is almost always my 1st modification. But if I ever decide I need a muscle car in hippo livery, I'll slap a Magnasun/Whipple on there and have some fun

I agree with your out air box on the tune a few question, I hear the rave all the time black bear tie black bear tune. But if you YouTube it you will see the reviews on how difficult they are to get in touch only email they don’t respond may take a week . Also the reviews on you tube didn’t seem like wow . Many complained about how the tune once in while made vechile go nuts. So black bear bye bye please suggest one beside black bear . any good one beside black bear that safe and good on transmission thank you .

I would use Black Bear. They’ve been in the industry for years and you’ll find hundreds of satisfied customers for every pissed off one

The company has even commented here in this post. Did you even bother asking them? Or just succumb to internet-itis and believe something you read online?

As for results, you aren’t going to get massive results. You will see gains. Like throttle response. No torque lag (or whatever it’s called), better/crisp shifts. For a couple hundred $$$, you get max bang for buck.

And if you decide to cam and/or blower later, the tuner is already money in the bank

One good hurricane where the power goes out for a week and those Teslas will be rendered more than useless inside a day. I reckon most of the folks who own them are country club types and the Tesla is a status symbol and they drive something else when they really want to go somewhere.

I was at dealer and asked what upgrade I can get service director told me go to part to get a high performance air intake and gm will tune the computer for it . But there was no upgrade are available for rst. I was told if there was a part gm with send tune for it dealer for the part . He said it a fast Tahoe as it is but I find slow still . Wanted to do something gm part upgrade so I don’t looose warranty . Don’t want to spend a lot either . Something quick and easy .

I installed K&N Air Filter specifically for 5.3 Vortec which my 2018 Tahoe RST has as I didn't want the 6.2 and have to run premium. It seems to open the motor up slightly. No huge difference. Slightly louder with the Borla exhaust that was part of the RST. I have not done anything invasive beyond that. MY dealer didn;t seem to care that installed that. Still honoring warranty.

I would like to know if any owners of Tahoe RST have knowledge of aftermarket 22" wheels ( all black ) that will work with the larger Brembo brakes on front. I'm not a big fan of the wheels Chevy chose for the RST, but I don't want to invite problems. The Chevy wheels are way overpriced to me. Almost $600 per wheel. Not good.

Yes your always right most people I know drive Tesla are the country type people and snobby well except one guy Iknow he’s honest he told me it a piece of crap .
