@about20ninj45 , the corner lights just pop out from the holders behind the grill. Wiggle from the outside corner towards the center and it should release. Takes no time at all.

It could have been, but my DRL bulbs looked the same before I swapped them to LED and they were in for at least a year with the correct bulb. The standard filament bulbs just draw so much power that it creates a ton of heat. The LEDs look good! Is it just the way I'm seeing the pic, or is the chrome grill surround piece slightly off on the passenger side where it wraps around the edge of the corner light!? I will also add that my drivers side socket was so crispy looking like that as well that I had to change it out. But then when I bought the LED bulbs, the bulb didn't fit right in the aftermarket socket. It was loose and wouldn't stay on. So I had to buy another one from a different parts store and I believe the second one was an ACDelco replacement. They fit perfect now. So if you end up having to replace either of the DRL sockets, that brand is the one to go with.

Yes you saw it correctly... the tabs on that side are broken, so it's tucked into the corner instead of the correct notching.. I decided I could deal with it just it doesn't move around and make noise...i didn't want to buy a new one for broken fitting tabs, I will get a new one when I decide to black out the grille and match paint the chrome edging, leaving just the gmc logo... im doing this 5o complement the black legend series ranchhand gaurd in getting next year... it's gonna look good!!

So was there nothing wrong with running 4157 bulbs?

To change the dtr, I pulled the 2 bars holding the headlight assembly out, then unhooked headlight assembly to get it out of the way.. the grill untabs from the sides, and there's a push piece on the outsides holding the turn/dtr in place..press and pull away the whole assembly and unhook the lights if you want to give the inner lenses a cleaning before reinstalling. Make sure you tuck the inside piece in first before reconnecting the outside tab on the dtr as it's the only thing holding them in..

Maybe a 10-15 minute job.

Bulbs and sockets like that are the norm when it comes to DRLs.

I had to replace both sockets when I upgraded mine to LEDs.

I don't know but I remember mine were burnt last time I installed some LED's so I just ordered replacement pigtails. Thanks for reminding me.
