Water spot damage in 2024 Yukon

Hello,

Proud owner of a 2024 Yukon in Black that I purchased a month ago new. Love the black but recently doing a hand wash noticed some hard water spots. I tried using a polish and wax compound by hand, and it would not get rid of it. I assume it needs a professional paint correction.

Would the dealer be responsible to resolve this? I did purchase it in Florida so I assume it's sat in the sun for a while.

I also had a couple dings that I had a PDR guy repair and they did reimburse me for that part as I was out of state.

I, too, had PDR done on a dent on my door that [I could prove] was there when I purchased the truck (but didn't see until a couple days later), and the dealer paid for that. But unless the water spots are actually in the paint/under the clear coat and not the result of sitting outside in the elements, I'm not sure how (or why) the dealer would accept responsibility for it.

It's obviously worth the ask, but I, personally, wouldn't count on it.

As far as I am concerned, buying something, new..... It better be in a new condition.
On my '05 Yukon, I have a few small... what looks like water spots on my hood. They are permanent. ....
I can bet the spots are from bird crap, that got baked into the paint. They can't be polished out.

In your case, it's the fault of the dealer not spending the money, keeping the paint washed.

get used to it, anything 2015+ has crap gm paint, the paint is thinner and the metal is thinner. I bet you can rub your finger on it and leave a mark. Be very careful as literally anything will scratch or dent it. Black is probably one of the worst offenders

On top of this, GM black paint at least from experience detailing latest model GM vehicles is notorious for being incredibly “soft” so to speak compared to other black paints and will scratch so incredibly easily.

During the early '80's...... Remember all the white paint peeling off, trucks & vans.......
My '88 GMC truck had the clear coat failing, all over the body...... the color coat was already hardened, before the clear was applied.

The white paint, peeling, may have been due to the primer was applied, but the finish coat was sprayed on, way too late.
