I have a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali that has about 206,000K. Ever since I bought it, when driving I hear two distinct noises, one sounds like a low drumming sound. While the other is more like a whining sound. These only happen when I am on the gas. I am more interested in the drumming noise or maybe they are both related. Take a listen here.

I did hear it when you got on the gas and then went away when you decel. Inspect the motor and all transmission and transfer case mounts. May have a driveline/shaft out of round/balance. I would also want to lift the rear and check for play in the axle shafts and bearings. Others here will chime in with hopefully more choices.

Really, ok I will need to look into that. Thanks!

At cruising speed mounts will settle in and just kind of lay there but when accel they get torqued and pulled and during the accel process they are trying to hold all that torque in place. If you have a bad mount, that can allow too much movement and cause drivetrain problems and noises.

I also have the same noise on my 06 Escalade 80k under acceleration. Have not looked into it yet, only owned it a week. Thought it was just the nature of the beast. Will look into the mounts when my bank account replenishes itself LOL.

Mounts I’d say.

Just a suggestion to anyone who’s taking a similar recording, I’d rather see the gauge cluster than the road. That would be more meaningful. IMO.
