@Doubeleive @Trey Hardy I wonder if gear ratio has any influence on 4l60e longevity. The gmt900 4l60e seems better than previous ones
I think their weak all together unless beefed up at the weak links and even then if not built correctly won’t last my buddy went through probably a dozen trans in his 97 and his 05 the only one that held up was when he swapped in a 4l80 in that 05

is it possible your motor mounts are ripped and it's somehow moving the shift lever around a bit if it's not adjusted exactly middle of the gear?

Motor mounts looks good. Got under it today. Next time I wheel I’m going to put it in 1 and see if it does it instead of D. When you said that I was kinda thinking this never happened till after i lifted it the other week. Maybe something to do with this and linkage.
It’s raining today so I’ll investigate further when dry.

I’m on 4.10 gears for everyone.

they seem to look fine, but aren't. you gotta do the load in gear with someone watching type thing. if you haven't changed them yourself and upgraded to the hummer mounts, they are like 95% chance they are ripped. not that it's really an issue. mine were broke 2 years now till I finally checked haha just a good.

I don’t think it would be the rear diff, I wonder if it’s the transfer case but I don’t know much about those. But you said it doesn’t happen in 4wd which makes me think it’s the tcase
Diff rig and manufacturer but...(don't ya hate those), Ok, brand new 91 F150 stretch cab 4x4. Following a blizzard across Nevada. WHY? SKI FREAKISM. Doing fine at 70, 80, cruise control stops at 85 to set but ya can hold increase speed button and bring it up. 90 doing fine then hit 92mph and it jumps to a weirdassed neutral. Coast to side of I80 with Rick just woken up wondering wth just happened. Me driving wondering if I've just toasted my brand new truk. Ricks kid wakes up growling about some crap or other.

We stop and there are a couple of warning lights lit but everything seems ok. Check for heat at wheels, front diff, back diff, roll one and turn it off. We burn, restart, 4Loc Hi. Sounds right, feel it grab and away we go. Lesson learned, "Good truck and ya can't force cruise control past 92mph."

Fwiw (grin) we had the most epic skiing at Telluride and Crested Butte for a week each. Then I dumped them at SLC train station and spent 2 weeks doing Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons on my 'epic road/ski trip.' Lol, now for the endorsement; THANKS to all the clubs at South Lake Tahoe for the 11 hour blackjack streak finishing up with a couple of years salary. Especially The Lakeside Inn for their, "Get the heck off our tables," package. The finale was hitting 19 into dealers 20 and getting exactly the card needed. Across the board ban from the casinos for winning too much too quickly.

All 4 tires are brand new and same 35x12.50r20. This never happened with stock wheels in tires in the two months i drove prior but i never took offroad. The Tc like flickers everyonce in a while at wot at high speeds.

What gets me more is the jumping out of gear happened again but in traffic. I had to quickly flick the throttle while in middle of intersection turning left. i hit throttle fast off the line and boom out of gear and rpm’s jumped up. This time it went back to gear on its own when rpm’s went back down to zero. I’ve also had it jump out and won’t go back in unless you go back to park then drive. Trans fluid looks good, no codes or tc light when this happens. Pretty scary actually when i’m traffic I was sitting duck

I thought our lockers needed some resistance to work? In other words, the wheels both need some traction?
I am guessing the chattering maybe stabilitrak kicking in? I wonder if disabling the ABS unit would help in that instance...

With the cruise control and high speeds in snow, maybe possible one wheel slipped enough to disable the cruise?
