What are major differences between Denali and LTZ in 2015i besides Engine/Trans?

Hi Folks,

Just looking at the differences between the LTZ and Denali before I pull the trigger on the LTZ. I'm seeing a $4500-5000 difference in price on the base to base comparison.

I know the engine/8speed is different. Seems like the 8 speed is getting a lot of good reviews and seems like fuel efficiency is the same between Denali and LTZ as a result.

Are there any other standard options on the Denali that aren't standard on the LTZ?

Is the leather a higher quality in Denali? I can't really notice much if anything from looking at the pics. Thanks folks!

sincerely,

Tom

In the USA, I see all loaded up LTZs around $69K MSRP and Denali's at $71K. Not much of a difference when you equip them the same. Denali starts creeping up when you add HUD and automatic running boards and Adaptive CC.

Denali also offers available HUD and the dash cluster is configurable unlike the LTZ. But like you mentioned, the 6.2L is the the main difference. Need to ask yourself if you can live with 355HP/6-speed or if you want 420HP/8-speeds.

Here is a basic 2015i Denali (open road package/22") with a $71K MSRP and discounted to $64K:

Already seeing certified Tahoe LTZs for around $55K. Test drove one at our local CarMax w/ 7k miles and they wanted $58K. But they aren't the i model, which I agree with you is worth spending a bit more money on.

I'd personally skip the $1K paint job and put it towards a Denali :D

Dealer i'm working with is trying to really sweeten the deal on a 2015 (not I) LTZ they have with 4000 km on it. Tricked out exactly how my wife wants it but i'm thinking of holding out for the 2015i. I think the 6.2l engine is too much engine for me as we tow things maybe twice a year.

Has anybody seen or played with the updated Nav in the 2015i? I'm trying to find a 2015i in the city to checkout. I'm a gadget guy and would hate to miss out on a big upgrade to the Nav system.

you need to get an I. There's a reason they REALLY want to get rid of the 2015...

Eh, the I gets you wireless charging and hands free tailgate in the LTZ. That's it, right?

I'd definitely take a never registered LTZ with 4k for $10K off a new I. Not $10K off sticker, but $10K off what I could get a new I for. If I can get a new Denali for $7K off MSRP, you should be able to do the same with a LTZ. So $12-15K off MSRP off for a used LTZ?

I'm in Canada. I can get a factory ordered 2015i LTZ for $65880 + HST vs $74,500 + HST (MSRP). This is with all the options I want (~4k worth of options). Seems dealer here is willing to do invoice and not charge freight/PDI. Pretty pleased with this discount.

The instock 2015(non I) with 4k kms has another $4k of options vs above and they are willing to give that one to me for $67,000. I'd sooner hold out for the 2015i @ 65,880 optioned out exactly how I want it.

Does anybody know if these mid year models also under bug fixes vs. the initial 2015s? I.e. things like the 4wd issues some have reported. Is it GM practice to include recalls and fixes in the mid year right out of the factory?

No way, it's not too much. It may not be needed, but it certainly is not too much. Even if you never tow.

We played this same game when the wife upgraded her ride. We opted out of the Denali, mainly because the only real upgrade we would have cared for with the Denali is the drivetrain... and it just wasn't worth the extra ~8 grand to us.

The older I get, it's not always about what I can afford. It's about what I want and what I can get for my money. Imo if the added cost isn't worth it to you, then skip the 6.2.

Very true. I think the 5.3 is plenty for us. Given we are coming from a mini van / Toyota Highlander (and my other car is a Volt) the 5.3 is more power than we're used to. Fuel economy is very important to us and I think the 5.3 fits the bill nicely.
