So would a 2009 tahoe lt with 155,000 miles be a good buy? What should I look for when looking over the engine and rest of the vehicle? Any and all info is appreciated as I have mostly owned ford expeditions and don't really get the chance to work on chevy other than my in laws 04 tahoe with a 4.8. All I know is they're very reliable. Their tahoe is pushing 300,000 miles and only has a small trans leak.

Here’s a good what if scenario on future upgrades or $ spent on the motor …

Post in thread '2009 Tahoe - Need help with AFM/DOD full delete parts list.'

Unless it’s a unicorn Tahoe with the 6.2L it has AFM. 09 with the 5.3 is when it got the 6SP trans. Better milage and drivability. 155k milage is pretty nice to start. I’m at 160k on my 09. I do about 10k a year since ‘20 when purchased.

Yes, if you’re going into the motor and you’ve found a keeper or you found possible AFM related issues, the motor is relatively easy to wring another 75-100 hp out of while deleting the AFM.

When I was 1st in the market for a car that eventually led me to my Yukon, there was a 2009 Tahoe LTZ with the 6.2 @ 15x,000 miles for sale not too far (25 mins away) and I didn't know much about the variations. A week or so later when I realized I was going to need a new/replacement car the 2009 was gone.

What’s a ball park figure on how much changing all the fluids are minus an oil change goes for? I recently bought an ‘09 with 160k. The oil change was done before I took delivery, the tranny looked clean and full when I looked at it. But after reading a few of these replies I’m ready to get mine done.

if you take it to the dealer close to a grand, that cost is split between fluids and labor
these are "estimated" cost's from my dealer locally some of it I am not 100% sure, the $100 estimates may be low
trans: $250
coolant $199
brake flush $100
power steering $100
transfer case $100
front diff $100
rear diff $100

Either you do it or have it done. IMO, ALL fluids need to be done and then you have a base for the age and easier to keep track of and protect your vehicle. That is if you plan to keep it. I just did my oil change today and I still had 25% Oil Life left. It was the time at my mileage interval.
