New owner if a 2004 Yukon 5.3. Comp says I'm averaging 14.4. I'm going to do a basic tune up and an FI service. What else would you recommend? I don't want loud exhaust. I do use it for towing my rock crawler occasionally. But mainly I use it for my 60 mike round trip to work and back 57 of which is highway.

I wouldn't expect much more than that on a full size with 5.3 - there's a thread somewhere about gas mileage people are getting. I averaged 15.1 on a 750 mile road trip. I don't have a tune or anything like that though. Some guys get 17-20 on newer ones

Honestly if you drive 55-60 on the freeway..... your mileage will increase without any mods.

But who really wants to do 55 on the highway?

I think my average speed is 85. Anything below 65 and I'm so angry I'm trying to figure out how to split lanes.

K&N and exhaust will bump it a touch, I get about 1-1.5mpg more with both of those.

Another reason we can't complain about our mpg. Because gmt900s look BA cruising at 85.

I passed the 100 mark on the highway a few weeks ago. It's a little scary when you realize that it doesn't feel like anything more than 85-90mph. It said 110, but I doubt it was REALLY that high, at least that's what I tell myself to feel better about things.
