Hi-new to the site. Last week I picked up a 95 Yukon SLT 4 dr 4wd with 5.7. For 208K miles, it seems really solid.

Not sure I like all the extra body kit/flares/running boards-makes her look like she's hovering over narrow tires-factory 245s. Budget dictates keeping the stock wheels/tires/height for now.

Prev Owner chopped the y pipe off and ran just 10inches pipe off the manifolds- :wtf:I got that welded back on with a bullet muffler I was saving for another project (no O2 sensor yet)

Great oil pressure (may not be stock mill considering the miles)
Love having an oil cooler in the rad-there's another cooler in front-either steering or second trans cooler (haven't traced the lines yet)

Runs great now that I put a good stat in it and plugged in the disconnected vacuum line.

My questions -

This should be a 4l60 trans, yes? should be plenty durable for civilian duty, camping and towing a car/trailer around town 2-3 times/year, I guess.

What transfer case is this? Make/Model? Durable? I'm assuming it's chain drive, not gear driven. Thoughts on durability?

RPO code shows 3.42 gears. What rears are in these? what front diff?

Lastly-any recommended upgrades like 4L80/different xfer case/14 bolt rear that I should keep in mind? Especially interested in bolt in upgrades that could be optioned from factory to keep down the fabrication level (got enough projects like that).

Thanks- rick.

4l60e tranny. np241 t-case chain 2-speedstick shift. known as 8-5/8" rear and 8.25" front with 3.42 gear ratios in them. for now since you have other projects just maintain it and upgrade as needed. all components has issues but they still do a great job. the 4l60 performance can be improved if you got the money. Do you really want to add mre projects right now?

Thanks for the quick info- and no I don't want to do any upgrades right now-just interested in stock-type upgrades if I do have a component failure.

Had to edit my first post after remembering it's an SLT, not SLE- not sure of the difference in equipment, there.

She seems a solid truck and I've been enjoying it. Has a really nice firm shift to the trans, which I find reassuring. -rick

difference is in the trims. one is basic cloth seats with a few other goodies. the other would be leather, a/c /convenience package like keyless entry and so forth. also can be bought as separate option with lower trim.

Cool, thanks- it does have all of those you listed. It's not perfect, but it's very serviceable. I needed a solid daily driver that could haul family (previous DD was 2door Cherokee) when wife's minivan wasn't available. -rick

One more question- did these come with a secondary trans cooler or power steering cooler in front of the condenser or do I need to trace the lines to see if someone put in aftermarket? -rick

if optioned you can stare at the condenser thru the gill and see a plate type small cooler to the in front of it. that would be a heavy duty tranny cooling. if you see a skinny but tall two row cooler on the other end of condenser then that is a ps cooler. Not likely installed unless you have a brake hydro booster installed. Which is not a factory option on hoes. We here do convert ours tho. There was one with fins in front and one with out which just loops around below a bit that the factory used.

just ran out and checked- it's a plate cooler in front of the condenser on the passenger side- so that must be the extra trans cooler. I'm really impressed with that, plus the oil cooler in the rad. No wonder trans still shifts great. thanks-rick
