how many miles on the truck?Got up yesterday AM, used the remote starter loaded up, go in dash was dying and was greeted with"check charging system"
Well $120 later and a new 160amp Alternator is installed.. had hard time convincing wife not to go ballistic since we just bought it 4 days ago. I don't blame the dealer, but a hard pill to swallow right away, I'd be more upset if I had to pay someone to fix it. but Thank goodness GM made it so easy to fix some things on these engines, seriously it's probably 30min R&R for an Alt. More for me since I had to find my tools(have a slight organization issue right now)
EDIT: on the Plus side, I had my two new keys cut at Home Depot, $0.00 the kid was awesome couldn't believe how cheap amazon/ebay sells chip keys for.

168,000 Miles, not sure if it was an original ALT or not. Seems about right though IIRC my 95 Tahoe did the same to me at 170.how many miles on the truck?
Yes they are good, took my "old" 04 Deville to them for diagnosis they were fair, offered a free shuttle ride(which was worth at least the diagnostic fee) I just noticed when on the GMpartsdirect site that they run that as well.I bought my truck from a dealer in Winston-Salem. Nice town and the folks at Flow GMC were top notch (parts, service and mechanic), they run GMPartsDirect. Good preachin' at Berean Baptist Church too.
ya at 160k it's one of those points of use where you can expect some things to need some attention, (if they haven't already been done), like wheel hubs, radiator, etc just the way it is applies to practically any make/model168,000 Miles, not sure if it was an original ALT or not. Yes luckily seems this truck was fairly well babied, garage kept etc... only one crack in the dash, and even the leather on the driver seat is still intact.. This was just a sad moment, too soon after purchase... now to track down the leak that's wetting my passenger floorboard (Sunroof and still has GM windshield) Not too worried yet.ya at 160k it's one of those points of use where you can expect some things to need some attention, (if they haven't already been done), like wheel hubs, radiator, etc just the way it is applies to practically any make/model
