I know that on my old Esky I had the 160A alternator rebuilt into a 200A and it didn't like to charge at idle.

I was going to have my buddy rewind it to 260A but he said the bigger you go the less it will charge at idle.

The solution for me was to swap to a smaller pulley on the alternator which alleviated the idle charge problem.

I had also converted the mechanical fan over to dual electric fans on that truck which caused more current draw, obviously.
I like my alternator 60kw of power 4,195 amps @ 14.3v

it can power a walmart with that much with the a/c on

185 amps @14.3 (2.6kw) Power on demand (anytime)+2.2kw for the power steering

the A/C uses about 6kw @ 340vDC.. commercial sized(based on kw normal house unit is about 3.5kw) I need my winter coat & ear muffs after a while.

so the total max power consumption is about 10kw or so

I have been toying with the idea of OVERdriving the alternator because when my K5L fans run on hi, my voltage gauge is around 12V. I can't imagine what UNDERdrivig would do to the charging system.

I'm running a slightly smaller pulley on the alternator..........charging system is still running properly

Cleaning out the rear door drain holes.....yep, it was no doubt a K9 truck

View attachment 244916

It looks like the rubber strip alongside the door has or was removed at some point.

Do you notice water getting up further into the truck or not?

That strip seams to complete the seal towards the front most part of the rear wheel well where the door meets that edge.

I have them on my truck, PITA, all the dirt and crap gets stuck up under there.

I just don’t want the bottoms of the doors to start to rot out.

If the strip does nothing essentially then mine are coming off.

Thanks

Is that Powerbond 25% underdrive balancer smaller or larger than stock?
