I think that's a splash shield. I don't think the plastic would hold up well as an actual skid plate.

Funny you say that. I’m fabbing a light gauge piece of sheet metal to back it up right now. Not so much for rocks, but other pokey things encountered off the beaten path.

I guess if you want to go through a bunch of extra work just to be more comfortable? I mean valve springs are pretty easy to do with the heads in place. I can do them in a couple of hours or so. #7 & 8 cylinders are the only two that are a bit of a reach, the others are easy.
I know it possible to change them in place. I’ve always had the heads off because I was grinding valves at the same time.

Changed the oil and then I got to work on this.View attachment 272710

I got that when i first got my hoe.
Everywhere said "auto track II fluid" in the t case.
Me: i happen to have a few bottles on hand, so i used it
Man that t case was not happy at all.

Once i put the correct atf in there, all of the issues cleared right up. :D

And i kicked the vette out of the garage again.
I need to organize a bit first, but the hoe is about to get the oil pan pulled.

I'm also scoping out some nice used engine hoists.
Found a super heavy duty one not too far away from there, but it does not fold...

Looks like you could pull an entire car with it.

All depends on the transfer case as to which fluid to use. Mine takes AutoTrac II.

Either @Doubeleive or @kbuskill bought a metal one with louvers stamped into it. Thought it was pretty pricey though, but looked nice.

I bought the OE steel transfer case and front differential skid plates made for the trucks or Z71s and put them on my 2012 Denali. The holes are already there.
