That must've sucked when you learned it was rolled. I had a beautiful fully loaded Thunderbird SC back in the day. All black, and it had every option imaginable. Sold it to my sister cheap. It slowly started to get messed up, then one morning they got t--b o n e d (GEEZ)by an old caddy. Guy was dui. Totaled it. Fortunately it was a heavy solid car! If not I think my sister would've been killed. She did get hurt tho. Car was MANGLED.

I mean...yeah it did suck knowing it rolled but it was also one step away from me going full on wheeling truck with it so I wasnt THAT upset. If it didnt sell, I was going to be pulling all the glass, making half doors, cutting the bed rockers, building bumpers and sliders for it, it was going to get thrashed anyway if I kept it.

So, I’m traveling through corn country, and asking myself if there’s any potential downside to giving the Tahoe a taste of E85. I doubt this truck has had anything but E10 in it’s lifetime. Are there any reasons to avoid exercising the flex fuel capability in a vehicle with this many years behind it?

Has anyone ever seen an SUV or pickup like ours running 34 x 10.50 x 17 tires? They actually measure out to 33.5" I'm told and know of only 1 vehicle that had them and he had some unusual mods that preclude an apples to apples comparison.
I was looking at

I just like how clean the exhaust smells. But that might have a little bit to do with me idling a lot, especially when camping. Sometimes just to run a heater... But not often.

The only downside I've ever noticed, is just higher consumption. You will get to 100 less miles to a tank depending on conditions and your right foot obviously.

Topped the hoe off with premium, finally got it down to 1/4 of a tank.
I finally hit the 200 mile mark, drained out the break-in oil, put fresh vr1 10w30 conventional back in.
Metal in the filter is reducing as the engine breaks in. :waytogo:

I did a little bit of a flush with some mobile 1 i had laying around before the fill.
Got some more break-in metal to come out.
Plan is about 500 to 1000 miles with this stuff before i go to synthetic, but with a few filter changes in between..
I was running premium over the weekend and my dumbass was wondering why I was getting check engine lights for oxygen sensors and map sensors. Realize that I corrected the fueling while I was running e85 instead of gas. So I'll have to fix that and run a couple more tanks of gas through it eventually... And then all that will go out the window once I plop the cam and blower on it

Not quite. I wondered if you could use the tech 2 software on another OBD/CPU device. The autel I have is not a cheap version by any means, it works similar to the Snap-On Versus OBD/Diagnostics Scan Tool. So rather than buying a whole new “device”, I wanted to know if there is an external Tech2 reader that is “plug and play” and would work on a different device. Since the Tech2 is made up of multiple components (MDI, VCI, Memory Card and the scan tool itself - plus a laptop or desktop), I wasn’t sure if you can eliminate one of more of the components with the use of another scan tool (in my case the autel, which also runs Linux and has a WiFi chip - so it can interface, act as the scan tool, run live diagnostics, data, and run any computer based software or apps). Maybe I’m thinking too far out of the box or speaking code talk is sinful on a “gearhead board”.

Yeah, you would need to either be able to code something for it.
or have someone that has already done it and coded up something for it.
but since you can do it from windows, there is not really a use for it that i could see.

I do like those autel devices, i have been looking at one that can do some bcm functions.
maybe if we ever get a car that the tech2 can't do, then i'll probably drop the coin on a really nice unit.

Well, cooling system decided to pick its guts all over the hood and windshield around the top of first, 40 miles an hour. Was only 200° or so, ended up having to limp it about 6 mi, temp crept up to about 280 for a minute... I already have a cold case red ready to go, just had no intention of doing it this soon. Although I haven't looked into it yet, could have been a hose or something. But I get the feeling is probably a plastic end tank that had enough...
