I change mine every 5k miles (with Mobile One full synthetic), and ignore the oil life monitor.Oil change w/Mobil 1 and Microguard filter because that's all they had at O'Reilly's.
Should have taken 20 mins to do, but the last person who put on the filter used the 1,000 lb./ft. setting. I had to drive a screwdriver through the filter, then hammer a 12" pry bar through it, just to get it to spin. Then the giant channel-lock pliers I had were enough to spin the thing off. What a nightmare. But hey, now that's done.
Question: after resetting the dash monitor for oil change life, how long is the computer programmed to go between intervals? Is it strictly mileage based, or is there a formula for engine hours & miles factored together with fancy maths?
It factors other things along with miles but I don’t trust it.Oil change w/Mobil 1 and Microguard filter because that's all they had at O'Reilly's.

I believe the DTC oil life eminder is supposedly taking into account driving conditions, etc. I tested it a few times and it never got down to triggering a reminder in less than 9K miles and the oil was always very dark before the reminder, so I quit using it and went back to 5K mile interval for oil and filter change.Okay, good to know. The oil came out looking dark, so I wonder if the interval should be less.

That’s weird that it went to that high a mileage. My NBS always triggers right around 3k but I drive it hard. I never noticed on my NNBS Silverado because so far I’ve only changed oil once, 2000 miles after I bought it. I’m not even close to another 3k.That's the new plan.
Talk to me about your headlights. Your sig image is cool; what are they?
