I sure have enjoyed the added power of a better cam in my 6.2L. It really is night and day in terms of power between our non-cammed 2007 and our cammed 2012. I didn't bother with the headers or exhaust upgrades because I didn't want to spend the extra money, and the stock system on the Denali flows pretty well. I definitely would make the upgrade if I were adding a blower, however.
If you have the means to buy a new one in that timeframe and have Hennessy do their magic, you'll love it, and I'll love following along on your journey. Every now and then I get the urge for a new one, too. They sure are sweet.
I don’t have a problem with the exhaust. Well not a problem with the exhaust currently, since the gaskets, manifolds have been replaced due to broken bolts. Personally I haven’t done a cam swap since the 90’s, and no longer own an engine hoist, so I would have to find a shop that I can trust to do quality work.
I would much rather prefer to pay more for someone to take their time and do the job right than to get a “deal” on someone rushing things just trying to crank out work. Someone who puts pride in their work vs someone who will argue when their shoddy work is questioned or things go wrong.
The means aren’t an issue on the Henney, it’s more an issue of not being 100% happy with the new Denalis they have put out recently. Yes there are some nice features, but I drove a 2020 for several months while I was working on Omega (‘11) and I wasn’t sold. We shall see what the future holds in their next year or two. I’ll be curious if they end up dropping/changing the AFM from production to save on warranty costs.
Especially if you've had it all or most of them 100K miles, it's just now broken-in. Disabling or deleting AFM can never be done soon enough, IMO. Getting the trans shifting cleaned up with a proper tune should also be done ASAP to help ensure you get as much life outta the trans as possible.
100K is nothing. Look how I celebrated mine reaching 200K
I’ve had it for about half of its [mileage] life, maybe more than half, but I’ve owned it since 2013. It’s lived in a garage all except the first year, but wasn’t hardly driven that winter. She’s done a significant amount of towing and after seeing the condition of the ATF, I can see the need for zip kit, and torque converter in the near future.
So it’s probably best to knock out that stuff and a new cam before the BB tune. But yes, absolutely best to be done sooner rather than later.
