That's the basement. I had realized the engine stand almost reached the stand plate when it was bolted to the block, so I mounted that, and made a little ramp rod the stand wheels. The block tilted and slid right out of the back of the car.

The only heavy lifting was getting the stand wheels 3-4" up over the threshold for the basement doors.
Next thing you know…

Me...... my version of your answer......
If it's a good condition block, it's not that heavy.....
If it's a bad block...... It's 'too heavy / an anchor ".....
I do want a boat. Luckily, though, the machinist said this block was in great shape. He said he's always impressed by how well old LS engines look after being cleaned up.

Also, he said they nailed whatever the LS bearings are made from. Mine had 154k, and he said they looked fine, and still had the factory finish in them. Cam bearings were bad, with #3 being extra chewed up along the edges.
