If I had the funds to buy a Rupes 21 I certainly would, a buddy of mine let me use his and I absolutely loved it. I did a car that had terrible oxidization on the hood with it, and it made short work of it, paired with just normal Meguiars compound. Being on a budget though, I'm most likely going to buy a Porter-Cable polisher. Can't really beat them for considering they're only around $130.

I agree, its a bit on the pricey side. I'm consider it as an investment as well as personal tool. If its something that you will make money with, I think it'll be worth it in the long run. I know of a few people interested, they want to see how mine comes out before investing in theirs, haha. I don't blame them, this is new to me but have had the desire for some time. Plus paying someone $1k + to do it was out of the question.

Completely understand. I'm trying to scrape up as much money as I can to see if I can afford one, since I do believe in you pay for what you get. If you end up getting it before I do please let me know how you feel about it.

I will say this. For what I paid for the PC one I will not complain. Had mine for about 7 years used at least 6x a year. Never had a problem. Use really good pads and works great. The next one I buy will be a better brand, but this one has to die first. One plus is you can also catch them on sale at Lowes sometimes for around $100

Glad to hear that your PC has lasted that long, makes me feel good since I highly doubt I'll be able to afford the Rupes 21. What pads do you use for compounding, and which ones for polishing?

Now that both my vehicles i own have decent paint i try to stay away from harsh compounds. i usually use light stuff. 3M brand chemicals have the cap match the color of the pad that should be used. But i like to see what chemical guys/detaliers domains have to offer. on the back of the pad it normally tells you what to use it for.
