Just me in it at the time, coming home from work. Truck will be fine, new bumper and its good. Other guys car was toast, oil and coolant coming out and they made him move it so it's way gone.

Those receiver hitches are a real bumper saver. I have had 2 rear ended collisions in my driving history. Both times I have had a receiver hitch and suffered no real damage. 86 burb reared by a Ford 150, I was at a stop and he got me going around 30. I drove off, he didn't. 99 burb reared by a Kia Soul going around 25 mph, same deal.

I use to keep the actual hitch in my truck 24/7 for that exact reason. Had a grand prix rear end me. Not a scratch on my truck other than the hitch ball, she had a softball sized hole in her front bumper. Reason #2894793 why my wife now drives an SUV and not some little turd car.

That's the EXACT reason I keep my hitch/step on mine. Someone told me thats it illegal to have it on while not towing. I advised to them that the law can give me a ticket if they see fit.

Never heard that it's illegal. Never got a ticket for it in the 10 years I owned my Silverado. Either cops don't care, or the person that told you that is more dumbest

At least no metal got mushed on truck.... time for an ltz bumper or better yet esky with duals? Too soon? Sorry

Ok... here is the dumb question of the day (seems like that would be a good thread to start... lol).

I know I should probably know the answer to this since I own an LTZ.... but what is the difference between an LTZ bumper and a non-LTZ bumper???

I know some have a receiver cover and the LTZ bumper does not have provisions for it but in the pic of his bumper it looks like mine as best as I can remember (I drive a truck and am seldom home so I can't just run out and look at it).
