Firestone: Engine reseal - rear main seal, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket. And just for kicks, I had them install the 2 remaining metal brake hoses from the rear over the drive shaft. I'm broke, but no more oil leaks!
What did they charge for all that? Specifically I'm interested in the rear seal leak. Not sure I want to tackle this on my back in the garage.

All together, it was about $1900, and that was with a couple hundred off. The rear main seal, on their books, is a 7 hour job. I have learned over the years that you get what you pay for, and I go to the same Firestone for all work that I have done. This way, I know I can take it back if it isn't right, but it usually is. I've been burned by shade tree mechanics, and by non national branded shops in the past. I'd rather spend the extra money once and know it will be done right (or corrected at their expense), than to take a chance of having to spend the money twice.
Especially since you need to pull the transmission to do it!!! I replaced mine when I swapped trannies just as preventive maintenance.

I posted this in my "Mod" thread but since I did it today I figured I would post it here as well.
Well I got the hose and plumbed the catch can.
I also ran a 16oz can of Gumout "tune up" stuff through the PCV line, because it contains "PEA" in it. I then followed this with 32oz of cold bottled water. I am not certain if either did any good yet because I haven't taken a log yet but I am hoping it got rid of some carbon build up.
