IF YOU DO BUY ONE, plan immediately on changing out the cam as the DOD+High Idle hours rounds off the lobes. I thought the 6.0 didnt have DOD, but these Caprices do! That was my main reason for not buying one bc I wanted one bad!

Got'cha. I've read cams aren't too bad in the LS motors.

Towed uhaul trailer full of patio furniture 4 hours. Transmission ran at around 200 degrees the entire time. Is that too hot? f571fbbd77f90d67255c46b9e8bb99f8.jpg

The analog dash gauges in the 800s has 200* right in the middle as normal operating range. I wouldn't worry until you hit and maintain 250* for an extended time.

Yep...holdens are efffin awesome rides...they make badass utes....but in murica it's no Bueno because of part availablity


My buddy has an '06 GTO... I never really cared for the body style as they always reminded me of the grand am but the performance definitely makes up for the looks... lol

I bought 2 sets of Y2K Corvette wheels so I could have a full set of 18" wheels for an awd project I was working on. Corvette wheels are staggered 17"front/18" rear.

I gave him a full set of 17" wheels and he had them powder coated flat black with the inner dish red to match his car.

The DOD in a 6.0 is no worse than a DOD in a 5.3. There are plenty out there that have never had it done. We had a lifter and cam replacement due to DOD failure, at about 46K miles while the car was in service. It's been fine since, and now has about 85K miles on the clock. Our Tahoe, though is still running on the OEM cam/lifters with about 125K miles on it now. Take car of the car with recommended oil changes, using the recommended oil, and you should be fine.

The Caprice is an awesome ride! Parts availability is not much worse than any other import. Most of the driveline parts interchange with the Camaro, and the Engine/Trans actually come from the US. I have a Camaro diff and CTS-V brake set to install on our '12 9C1, so yeah, if you pay attention, some domestic parts are available.

They're good, cheap transportation, and fun to drive:
