the weirdness even goes further I have been able to accelerate in V4 mode.
basically it will stay in V4 mode from 0 mph I can accelerate to normal speed...

yes the tac was revving more like a 4 cylinder then a 8

and M4 permanently keeps v8 mode on and AFM is disabled..

That's pretty cool. When AFM first came out in the 900s, the Avalanche guys using HP Tuners were tweaking the settings to have it run longer. The problem with the 5.3s is they really need to make an extra 5-6 horsepower per cylinder to move the duty cycle up from 10 to 50 percent or more in the SUVs.

This was Tuesday evening, but installed an OEM touchscreen Nav/no DVD head unit and OEM dash USB port and cover:

No XM signal cuz I was still in my shop, but everything seems to be fully operational. Haven't really played with the NAV much, either. I cut out a small metal plate to mount the NAV antenna in the factory location. It may just be my ears, or maybe I didn't spend enough time on the "EQ" adjustments, but I swear it doesn't have as good of sound as my original. Just gotta get a reverse camera now.

Did you go to the local dealer to unlock the vin theft lock? @iamdub

No. I had Greg at CPS A/V in Cotati, CA unlock it for me.
That's right, you mentioned that to me. Mind has been so busy I forgot. Funny part is it will turn on and play the radio for a few seconds then theft lock so I'm certain it will work with a vin reprogram :)

I read too many horror stories of how easy it is for a dealer tech to not do something quite right and turn the HU into a brick. Also, many dealers won't program anything for any vehicle unless it's the original equipment. It was worth the price for the peace of mind of having a specialist do it and know it would be right.

That's odd that it even plays at all. Mine just powered up with a blue screen.

When I got my 2012 last year and before I turned AFM off with a tuner, I noticed the truck would only go into v4 mode after letting off the gas. Even when cruising on the highway at a steady speed it would still be in v8, unless you lifted off the gas.

Seemed pointless to me, because minimal amount of fuel is used on decel anyway.
