Been chasing a power steering pump whine off idle, weird sound, took forever to isolate it to that, thought it was orig. a idler or tensioner pulley... wrong... after doing belt and pulleys, I heard it again, looking all over the engine compartment I popped the power steering cap and noise went away, I had done a power steering fluid change about 10k miles back, and thought maybe I needed to go back full synthetic, so did that last week, then noise persisted, soooo.. Did some research on the matter, come to find out the cap can cause it, changed cap yesterday and no more noise yet, upon inspection of older cap, there are some vent holes on there, seems those holes were plugged shut, so it wasn't venting at all... I think problem solved saying this was a good test run on my normal almost 40 mile commute. Little noises drive me nuts.... So cheers to fixing our shit and keeping it running....... Few months away from 2 years me and the burb being together... Saying I used to change vehicles every 1 to 2 years and normally already looking this is a huge milestone for me... haha...Hope everyone faired that storm good that smacked most of the US Friday/saturday.

The OEM pads for z06 calipers are similar in price, not sure what lifetime is on them though. EBC Redstuff is $130 for the front, Yellowstuff is $160. Yellowstuff doesn't last for shit though, even if it does stop real good. I ran Yellow on the S10 and it was awesome.
Had some greenstuff pads for a while on a daily, they faired well till it was traded in with about 40k miles on those pads... Yellowstuff and redstuff wont last for shit...

Got Wagners OE Ceramic on my burb, they do real well honestly and NO DUST.

Got my skidplates delivered Saturday and swung by O'Reillys on my way home from work today and picked up 8 bolts.

Got home, pulled it up on ramps, grabbed my cordless drill, 15mm socket, creeper, and removed one of the factory bolts from the bottom of the front splash shield. Used it along with my drill to make quick work of tapping the 8 holes. Installed the skidplates using the cordless drill/driver also.

Got Wagners OE Ceramic on my burb, they do real well honestly and NO DUST.
I’m gonna try the AC Delco OEM pads first in the z06 calipers. The yellowstuff dust fused to the alloy wheels on my s10 so no way in hell i’m gonna use those on the tahoe. Maybe greenstuff? Will see. If it stops good with the delco pads, I’m gonna keep using those.

I really need to get my z71 skid plate installed. I’m trying to get one of those louvered skid plates for the front to go where the splash shield goes for my birthday but prob wont get around to it til later this year

Vehicle info/odometer and gear indicator screens went out on my wife's 07 Yukon. Turns out a MOSFET was cooked on the circuit board (usual suspect I hear). Got the cluster torn down, de-soldered the old MOSFET and one of the soldering pads lifted from the board. Had a brief moment of panic then thought maybe I could just use a piece of wire and re-make the connection. I dismissed that thinking it would be too redneck and there must be a way to repair the pad itself. Nope. Dug around and found a wire is in fact an acceptable method. This is my first printed circuit board repair...so...not too pretty, but it works. Plugged it in and no smoke demons. Drove it several hours over the weekend with no problems. So far so good.

Yes, a little heavy on the solder, but at least the solder stayed where it should be. I was going to clean it up a bit, but I felt lucky the work-around went so smoothly. I thought it best to leave well enough alone. I can get a bit ridiculous if I let OCD take over.

Yes, it works. HAHA :happy160:

Damn I forgot what a new one looks like. I got about 5 years out of my wheel and it’s still kicking. Looks like a worn out ice cream cone though. @07Burb turned me onto these things. Much appreciated old friend.
They do last quite a while. They are a life saver :)
