honestly I think its a combination of two factors. 1 is that the rebuild it had at 130k was terrible. 2 is that when the engine was replaced, I don’t think they ever topped off the fluid, and I never checked it warm, so its been a 1.25 quarts low for 30,000 miles.
It’s the most important thing to do if you want a trans to last- check the fluid level regularly. Performabuilt told me it’s the cause of most failures with a 4l60. And nobody will warranty it if it fails. Even 1 quart low on a 4l60 will shorten its life considerably.

So I finally made it out and took a picture of how my parking brake cable is routed after leaving the firewall. Is this the norm for anyone with this year/body style?

I was referring to where ever you bought the new transmission from... I am certain they are pleased to make the sale.

It still sucks for you though.
Ooohh i see. Yeah it does. I don’t think the new one will come with the new one is going to come with the vette servo. I will be doing that upgrade for sure. $22 and it makes a good bit of difference. I’m going to take the mechanic some doughnuts and $20 tip and see if he’ll pull the one out of the old one to put in the new one. Its external, and takes 20 min. Probably 5 if you have it out of the vehicle.

i see that. :/ i’m going to be better about it for sure. And annual fluid and filter changes

Performabuilt told me a quart over is not a problem and if it’s too full it will go out the vent anyway, better a quart over instead of a quart under.

got my garage nearly ready for the ol hoe.
been slowly looking at parts.
any reason to not run the melling high volume high pressure pump?
looks like it has a better finish, and comes with the stock pressure spring...
