What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Finally changed my steering rack after dealing with it leaking for almost a year lol

Looks like more than just the steering rack. Did you do a new trans cooler while you were at it, or is yours down below and that mount is there in case you ever decide to move it.
Either way, hopefully your leak is fixed after this repair.

Looks like more than just the steering rack. Did you do a new trans cooler while you were at it, or is yours down below and that mount is there in case you ever decide to move it.
Either way, hopefully your leak is fixed after this repair.

Nope that’s all factory stuff. It takes about a minute to take the bumper off and makes it way easier to get under the truck. I was sitting up 90% of the time

Over Memorial day I took some time off work so that I had a 5 day "weekend". Round trip drove about 1600 miles to Colorado Springs and back. Visited the Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods,..... Deathscalade performed flawlessly even going up and down Pikes Peak. Going up I kept a close eye on Trans temps. By the time we got to the top it was around 225. Higher than I like but not horrible. On the way down, it was the brakes! There's a check point on the way down where they'll take a temp reading of your brakes and mine were OVER 500* :eek: Mostly due to some jack wagon in a Kia Soul in front of me constantly riding their brakes so therefore I had no choice. Long story short, I could literally see smoke coming off the brakes so we pulled over and let them cool for about an hour or so. I will be ordering new pads and rotors after that. :lol:

In the 6 months we've had this rig, we've already put 15,000 miles on her! Pretty shocking that we're on pace for 30k miles in a year but she's doing well and we have no complaints, thus far.


I think they tell everyone that. you just happen to get pointer to the gift shop parking lot lol.

years and years ago. I took a 4th Gen z28 up there, manual, never hardly touched the brakes. I was like haha. they aren't going to get me. temp gun and pointed me over, wife laughing at me. parked felt my wheels, no warmer than after driving on the interstate for a while. 100$ worth of trinkets later, back in the road.

I do a lot of manual shifting too.

It could also just be the pads & rotors. I've been using the Raybestos Element3 stuff. I feel like it stops really well, and the rotors don't rust up here with the long salty winters.

That being said, I measured my calipers the other day, and they were well within spec, and I should pull a front wheel off to measure a pad. I bet I can go all summer with how they are.

I just ordered the parts to have on hand, and would rather be working on my BMW.


what do you think of those? between that and the z32 kit is what I'm thinking. I don't mind a little quicker wear as long they bite nice and don't dust

in the future just put tow/haul mode on that makes the transmission do some of the braking (2009 or later).
"Normal mode powertrain grade braking assists when driving on a downhill grade to help maintain desired vehicle speed by using the engine and transmission to slow the vehicle. The mode helps reduce brake temperatures and wear on the traditional braking system. Normal mode powertrain grade braking defaults to “ON” after each ignition key cycle. To disable or enable all grade braking within the current ignition key cycle, press and hold the Tow/Haul button for three seconds. No grade braking is available in Range Selection Mode (Manual Shift Mode)."
