It's worse now! And they're making da Burg a metropolis. Hi rises are popping up all over.
F'ing spring break now too, totally a shit show.
I left 2 years ago, but came down to train for Paris24 qualifiers. All my Olympic rowing buddies are in Sarasota, training til snow melts in Jersey. Lots of us down here training and running away come heat ☀️

well one buddy left about the same time I did but from Brandon to north GA. Absolutely loves it up there. the rest want to go a little further up into NC hills. one will probably end up near Asheville, his mom moved up there probably 20 years ago and getting up in age. others just want to get a cabin somewhere to retire.

that whole area is like a car/bike guys heaven.

and haha at brown hair. the blue hair's back in the day were the old new Yorkers that had enough money for a winter house down south. gray hair would look blue their the back glass. when you were stuck behind them driving slowly lost. I think they called themselves snow birds? all I remember is riding around town in my dad's old work truck while he cussed everyone one of them he saw.
I lived in Brandon for about a decade during the 1990s - moved out there before the place when to hell, well, maybe a little after it started! lol

Brandon was always over dense to me. the first of the walled in housing complex and only the one big main road thru town with chain restaurants on it. the few friends I had out that way, if I went out there. man restaurants on a Friday and Saturday night were impossible. by buddy that moved to north GA worked at that Bennigan's before it closed and he moved to progressive. at one time it felt like half of the Tampa racing message board worked at progress haha. my other friend worked at babes pizza. I hear it's still sure, but I've never been to it. Just heard stories.

man the good old days.. you were probably gone by then. more mid to late 90s into the early 2000s was I out and about over that side some times.

babes pizza guy still lives around there last I heard. started a repair shop I believe. haven't talked to him in years.

Babe's Pizza - that place was/is an institution. My idiot racing friends worked at Progressive too-what a small world.

That's when I was there last. Left in '99. Lived in Plant City and went to Plant City High. My dad lived in Dover. I used to steal my brother's car ('83 Olds Omega) and take it down Hwy 60 into Brandon. He now lives in Wesley Chapel. My dad, aunt and cousins live in Valrico.

Entirely possible we crossed paths at some point in our young and dumb period. Thanks for sharing and bringing up fond memories of lost youth! LOL

at some point it seems like anyone that could afford it moved to Wesley chappal. it was like the new new Tampa haha

plant city besides the strawberry festival, only knew one guy from out there. nickname was peawee, white fox body mustang sitting on welds. tag even said peawee lol. little dude, older than most of the drive around and hang out steet race crowd but he was at everyone single one. would put the kids to bed and head out. make the drive all the way to Clearwater Friday nights at the beach parking lot.

if memory serves, the checkers in Brandon was Thursday nights, Friday clearwater beach just to park and bs, don't think anyone raced over there. Saturday was gandy. Sunday Tuesday was the checkers on 41 and causeway. running up to hit races off at East Bay raceways, mosquitoes were to bad to stay at very long and Seabreeze restaurant. everything way so coordinated back then, probably watched 100s of races, can't remember a single person getting hurt. only crashes I ever remember was when the cops got involved and kids would bump each other leaving parking lots haha.

videos from todays kids just look ridiculous, but then again kids couldn't afford fast cars back then. anything fast was probably being trailed around and only came off real quick and back on. guys would be out crushing around with their wives and kids in the trucks.

now I get to work at the same time I'd just be getting home from stake and shake breakfast after.
