I feel like north Cali looks nice. had some relatives that lived up in bishop and when we visited it seemed like a nice little mountain town.

most big city's kinda suck. everyone I work worth lives atleast an hour drive away from this city to avoid it all. I just hate long drives to work.

I had at least an hour drive to work for many years.
It was down to 45 minutes before I retired and left.

I did it for a year and it sucked the life out of me.

when I first got a chance to get out of Nola, I bid to Austin thinking it would be nice to be near Cota to go to the motogp and F1 races, maybe a track day. I didn't realize how awful Austin and tx overall was. once I got there I never even went once even thou I lived 15mins away. when San Antonio opened I bounced down here. made the drive for a year before I could get moved. 80 miles each way door to door. had to leave home at 2.30am to get to work on time.

I feel like I lost 5 years off my life doing that drive daily haha. since then I'm like I'll deal with the crime and be 15mins from work haha.

At one time I had a 70 mile one way commute in Los Angeles traffic.
It sucked.
My only car at the time was my 64 Malibu with a 4 speed.
My left leg was dead by the time I got home.
I bought a motorcycle and commuted on that when the weather was decent.
I went from using 10 gallons of gas a day to 2 and a half.
I now live in a town of 10,000 people so there really isn't any traffic except for summer when the tourists come for easy access to Yellowstone and to watch the rodeo.

that's sounds brutal. I wouldn't even want yo ride a bike that long. but a 64 with a 4 speed is a nice car. not in traffic but I'd like to have one today.

I was lucky and had the voltage at the time, stole it from the wife. it would do right at half way each way on electric charged at both ends. so I took me almost exactly 1gal each way. would have bankrupted me in the 96 tahoe which was our other daily at the time.

I owned that '64 Malibu SS Convertible for about 32 years.
It was a 327 / 4 speed car.
Only sold it because I had to thin the herd due to lack of space for all my cars.
Didn't like it had to sit in the driveway under a cover because my two 20's cars were in the garage.

I thought about buying a Volt when I needed to pick up a car with better mileage that I was getting out of my 2002 Nissan Altima with the V6. I think the Volt is the best hybrid system out there but it worked so well that GM killed it.
I was driving my daughter to school about 30 miles away then heading over to work about another 23 miles from there.
Ended up with a 2017 Kia Optima PHEV that got great mileage, averaged about 65mpg and I could charge at work for free.
It was a very reliable and nice car to drive.
Sold it when I retired since I didn't need to commute any longer.
