I loosened the upper bolts when I did mine too. Made the job much easier.

For those with autoride struts reading this, remember to hit the electrical connector on top of them with electrical contact cleaner before reassembly (assuming you have them), or you'll get a suspension code. I've seen it happen to a few people here.
I used a dab of dielectric grease and mine were fine going back together.

Does the receiver poke out from the bumper, that you can't use a flush-looking cover ?
After looking at my '05 Yukon bumper & receiver...... I asked a silly question....
Yes and that’s the only one made for that bumper. When I paint it to match it will blend in better. Even the other style for the different bumper isn’t flush. Here’s the other style in case you’re not familiar. IMG_0116.png

this is part of the reason why I always have 2 vehicles even if one is a pos beater or something that rolls. If I had room I would have 4-5 again, but no parking spots around here.
if one goes down just jump in another...
that bolt didn't look all that rusty, I wonder if someone over torqued it in the past...
I still have my 2002 Nissan Altima as an emergency vehicle.
It has 250k but still runs perfectly, I was driving it around the other day with the AC blasting because it was 92* for some stupid reason a few days ago in So Cal.
I will sell it before everything gets liquidated in Calif because it is not a snow car.
Too low, too much grunt from the V6 with no traction control and no ABS.
I have the Yukon and my mom's car up here in WY so I don't feel too bad, but I could never go back to only one car.

When I lived in California, I always had a 'back up" transportation... A motorcycle. No matter where I lived, I could stash it anywhere ( mostly a garage)...... I had it for 2 reasons..... If I was working on my truck, and also if there was a big earthquake, I could get around.
I kept a dirt bike handy for earthquake reasons for many, many years.

Been driving mine and just enjoying that the TC has been locking and unlocking like it should haha
I have been hoarding parts to do the aluminum front end refresh and I found this locally to add the weight reduction theme :)
Anyone ever rebuild a motor? This'll be my first.
I have done a Subaru ej255 and an Isuzu g180
But not an LS...but I have had this on the side of the house for nearly 2 years. :emotions34:
And a fair amount of parts for it, cam, lifters, valve springs, headers, head studs...
Hopefully taking it apart soon finally.

Nice!
This'll be my first engine. I'll be looking around for some parts and hopefully score some on marketplace. Been looking for heads but haven't had much luck.

It's and LC9.

Changed the oil in the Yukon and Sierra today. Both were done the same day back in December. Curiously, they traveled almost the same distance in the same amount of time at nearly the same average speed.

4,892 miles in 189 hours for an average speed of 25.9 mph. Spent $1447.20
4,831 miles in 187 hours for an average speed of 25.8 mph. Spent $1240.23

The 6.2 Sierra is more fuel efficient around town than the 5.3 Yukon XL.

Changed the oil cooler gasket in the Yukon, hoping that was the major source of oil underneath and maybe even the source of intermittent low oil pressure. We shall see.
