I think guys have actually been cutting them to fit the GMC headlights.

Yes, they need to be cut to fit the headlights... @Coach Larry was talking about what to do with the raw edge created after you cut.

I think i have read they allow enough to roll over an edge. My guess would be then some kind of adhesive. Welding would get tricky not to warp.
