That’s awesome, sounds good. If by snorkel you mean the cold air intake then yes you will get a CEL because the MAF isn’t reading the airflow. Sounds like the water pump just went south real quick which they do sometimes. If so, that’s an easy fix.

Lord Willing. Imo the truck sounds as good as could be expected considering what it’s been through in the last 48 hours, lol. But I’m not an expert,, you guys may have more trained ears

I mean, the coolants all gone, belt’s removed, snorkel /CAI is removed, I’m halfway done already haha.

I do have a few questions for the community

- replace pump only or whole pump/housing assembly.. ? One has to wonder how much life thermostat has left in it

- any special tools or anything i should pick up for this project beyond regular hand tools

- should i still attempt to drain any residual coolant left in the system

-lastly, any tips or advice specific to this job anyone would care to share ?

I would do the thermostat for sure being you got things apart. I had to do mine right after I bought it because it was stuck open. As far as the water pump housing idk? I would probably just do the pump and get a new belt tensioner and belt. With the money saved. Remove the pump and see if there is any damage to the housing and also I would probably flush the cooling system in case there was any metal debris that might have gotten into the system. Post some pictures once you get that pump off. Curious to see where the impeller was rubbing against. Good luck bud.
