bosch, interstate megatron plus, or duralast are what have given me good results over the last couple of decades, i generally average 7 years out of any of them.
most modern 'wet' batteries are made by johnson controls (interstate, diehard, all parts store batteries, walmart, and yes, they make optima too)
I hope i can fit an mtl 85 (i fit one in my Eagle talon!) but I will probably have to stick with the mtp-78 (800 CCA and 110 minute reserve)
those that i have seen fail early (under 5 years) are
optima yellow
optima yellow
optima yellow
optima red
hunter/dynabatt/stinger (all the same battery)
nearly every 'dry-cell' light weight/compact battery (kinetic).
Whether it is because people are using deep cycles incorrectly, or abusing the batteries because they are 'stronger', or just because they are smaller and lighter as a result of less lead and thus are engineered for a shorter lifespan... i dunno. Probably a little of all of it.
as long as I've got 850+ CCA and a wet battery, I'm good. The bigger the better though.
