Hey Guys,

First of many posts I'm sure. I heard a whistle under the hood and found this unplugged - some soft of vaccuum hose I assume. What exactly is it and how bad is it that it was unplugged? Photo attached...

Thanks!

It's a vacuum line IIRC. Not bad that it wasn't plugged in, but you should go ahead and plug it back.

SW CT,
That is the fresh air intake for the PCV system, no big deal that it was unplugged.

Yep, thats a PCV line (positive crankcase ventilation). Its not a huge deal that its unplugged, but it will throw a Check Engine light and maybe cause some driveability issues, poor gas mileage, stuttering, etc. After almost 20 years, GM still hasnt figured out how to make a decent connector for those. The one on our G8 came off on a monthly basis..

The best fix I've found for that came with the GM Accessories CAI. They give you a rubber hose and some clamps to tighten it down with. Before installing the GM CAI on my truck I had problems with that not staying on. I never had a CEL, but it did seem to affect fuel economy a little.
